ESL Program

 ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE


 The ESL program at Albert Career School offers international students an opportuinty for English instruction, emphasizing the importance of practical use of English.  The school's major gal is to provide students with an opportuinty to gain the langauge skill sncessary to become successful members of the global workforce; This invovles an approach to teaching that emphasizes listenting, speaking, reading and writing skills as an integral part of the process in developing Engilsh skills     At each of the six English levels, new language skills are presented while the skills learned in prior levels are reinforced by increasingly sophisticated applications of interpersonal communication. Issues of living and working in a multi-cultural society are also covered in increasingly greater depth at each level..


Program Goals Our program strives t ·Provide a safe accepting multi cultural learning environment. ·Facilitate the progress of students towards achievement of their individual goals and development ·Teach students to accept diversity and be open to views and opinions different from their own. ·Understand spoken American English and speak it with the precision and clarity necessary to effectively communicate. ·Provide the ESL student with an orientation to the cultural and social environment of the U.S.A. ·Increase English language fluency and individual confidence in listening, speaking and writing.    


Instructors   Our ESL Instructors have advanced degrees and many years experience in ESL instruction.In addition, several instructors have taught ESL abroad in countries such as South Korea, Japan, China, Russia, and Brazil.    OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE HERE BECAUSE THEY LOVE WORKING WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS   Instructors use an integrative approach in the classroom, which combines real world communication, authentic materials and activities along with skill development. Each lesson incorporates short lectures, rich practice activities and extension exercises. Students are engaged through interactive discussions, presentations, role plays, writing assignments, reading tasks and media.     Each level has an A & B semester and each level is composed of four separate classes   ·Reading & Writing ·Speaking & Listening ·Grammar & Vocabulary ·US History & Culture
